A spare tire is a reactive solution. ProtectTires is proactive—it prevents the flat from ever happening, keeping your customers safe and moving without needing to change a tire on a dangerous shoulder.
No. Since 2019, all four major TPMS manufacturers have hermetically sealed their sensors against moisture and corrosion. Because the sensors are fully sealed, the water-soluble tire protection sealant can’t get inside or cause interference. This was a key technical hurdle cleared before tire protection sealant was approved for the automotive market, and it’s been validated across every major TPMS brand.
No. Our closed-loop injection system is precise. When a tire is eventually replaced, the sealant remains in the tread area and can be wiped out with a wet cloth or rinsed with water.
No. Federal law under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects consumers. A tire manufacturer (Firestone, BFGoodrich, Goodyear, Michelin, etc.) can’t reject a warranty claim simply because a tire protection product was added — they have to prove the product caused the damage. Since the sealant is water-soluble, a shop can rinse it out with a hose, leaving the tire fully serviceable. That’s a major difference from Fix-a-Flat or green slime, which are permanent and destroy the tire.
The tire protection sealant stays active for the entire life of the tire — there’s no expiration. It’s been tested in extreme temperatures from -40°F to 200°F, so it holds up through every climate and season. The sealant never dries out or hardens, so it continuously seals punctures as they occur, year after year.
The warranty is separate from the product’s lifespan. Standard tire protection coverage is a 12-month plan, with an optional 5-year extended warranty. Coverage includes up to $500 per tire and $2,000 per policy for repair or replacement from road hazards. A single 1-year plan typically covers a vehicle for its full ownership.
It’s mixed. The tire protection sealant is 100% effective in the tread area, where roughly 90% of flat tires happen. In the sidewall, effectiveness drops to about 50/50 because the sealant rolls primarily through the tread and is less concentrated on the sidewall. Tread-area flats are where the product delivers the most reliable protection.
Two conditions must be met to qualify for the 12-month tire protection warranty on a used car:
Both are baseline standards a dealership should already be hitting before putting a used car on the lot.
